Ok The 1st 2 answers are easy. The Spanish found gold in the new Americas and the British just wanted a piece of that and first landed all along the north half of the east coast. Lots of the sailors and crew members were looking for a fresh start a shot at getting rich and escaping the laws and such of British rule. I believe the last would be to establish trade routes as well. The Spainish were more obsessed with converting the native and being a native american myself... that history is quite, well brutal. I don't really think the British cared that much about converting them (even though it did happen) it wasn't their main intention
