It is the artificial induction of joint ossification between two bones by surgery. This is done to relieve intractable pain in a joint which cannot be managed by pain medication, splints, or other normally indicated treatments.

Arthrodesis is the process which surgically joins bones that make up a joint.

Step-by-step explanation:

Severe cases of joint pains which cannot be treated using regular drugs and medication the arthrodesis method is selected. It surgically makes a joint immobile by fusing two bones on either side of the joint. One way of performing arthrodesis is by introducing a bone graft between two bones.

The graft can be obtained from some other part of the patient’s body or can be obtained from a suitable donor. The first type is called autograft and the second is called allograft.

Nicotine and tobacco causes cancer by damaging or changing a cell's DNA.
