The seven characteristics of life are:

  1. Response to the environment
  2. Growth
  3. Reproduction
  4. Breathing and metabolism
  5. Homeostasis
  6. Cellular organism
  7. Gene transfer from parent to offspring

Protists are eukaryotic organism. They reproduce asexually by binary fission and sexually by gamete formation. Protists mainly feed on bacteria to obtain energy. Some protists like algae, euglena are capable of photosynthesis and form their own food. They need to maintain homeostasis that maintains their body temperature.

Fungi are multicellular, eukaryotic organism. The reproduce asexually be budding or mycelial fragmentation and sexually by formation of spores like basidiospores, sporangiospores. Fungi shows both parasitic and symbiotic relationship with organisms to obtain their food. They have symbiotic relationship with the roots of the plant and parasitic relationship with algae.
