Sedentary societies would face several new challenges compared to the challenges of nomadic societies. For example, sedentary societies were able to produce more children. This meant that women were less involved in public life. It also meant that the larger population meant more pressure on resources. Another important challenge would be the fact that sedentary societies lived in close proximity with animals, which led to the development of new diseases that threatened their health.
