Enacted on 13th July 1787, the Northwest Ordinance was an indispensable act of the United States Confederation Congress. This act established the first authorized territory, the Northwest Territory of the U.S. This act provided a process for accepting new states to the Union of the territory and drafted a bill of rights declared in the territory.
