Where, q be the charge on the charged particle and r be the distance between the charged particle and the point where electric field is to be calculated.

If the medium is inserted whose dielectric constant is K , then the electric field becomes


E' = (1)/(4\pi \epsilon _(0)K)(q)/(r^(2))

As teh value of K is more than 1, so the value of electric field E' is less than E.

It means when the medium is inserted, the electric field becomes reduced.
