1. use the distance formula!


distance = \sqrt{(x_(2) - x_(1))^(2)  +{(y_(2) - y_(1))}^2

2. then using the distance formula with (2, 7) and (-6, -2) you get...


distance= √(2 -(-6)^2 +(7 - (-2)^2)


distance= √(8^2 +9^2)


distance=  √(64 +81)


distance= √(145)


√(145) is the simplest radical form
