∠A and ∠B are corresponding angles, which means they have the angle measure. Since you know this you can put A and B into an equation and isolate x.

7x + 40 = 3x + 112
7x - 3x = 112 - 40
4x = 72
x = 72/4
x = 18

Now that you know what x is, you can find the angle for ∠A.

7x + 40
= 7(18) + 40
= 126 + 40
= 166°

Therefore, ∠A is 166°

Answer: x = 18, ∠A = 166°

Explanation:

The relationship between ∠A and ∠B is that they are corresponding angles, which means they are congruent (equal).

∠A = ∠B

7x + 40 = 3x + 112

4x + 40 = 112 subtracted 3x from both sides

4x = 72 subtracted 40 from both sides

x = 18 divided both sides by 4

∠A = 7x + 40

= 7(18) + 40

= 126 + 40

= 166
