The first car has a fuel efficiency of 35 miles per gallon of gas and the second has a fuel efficiency of 15 miles per gallon of gas. During one particular week, the two cars went a combined total of 1350 miles, for a total gas consumption of 50 gallons. How many gallons were consumed by each of the two cars that week?

Second car consumption is 15 miles per hour

Total Gas consumption is 50 gallons

Total distance traveled 1350 miles

Let x be the fuel consumed by first car therefore second consumes 50-x


35* x+15* \left ( 50-x\right )=1350

x=30 gallons

first car consumes 30 gallons and second consumes 20 Gallons
