A coin has 2 sides: heads (H) and tails (T). A bag has 4 balls: 1 red (R), 1 green (G), 1 yellow (Y), and 1 blue (B).

You toss a coin and randomly pick a ball. What is the sample space?

Answer:

Answer is C

Explanation:

The sample space is the combination of each possible scenario.

Keep in mind, the coin only has two sides, you have four possible balls.

So.

One set of scenario is the side H of the coin with every possible ball, so we have HR, HG, HY, HB

Other set of scenario is the side T of the coin with every possible ball, thus having the other TR, TG, TY and TB.

Thus we have the following set of scenarios for every toss and pick you do.

{HR, HG, HY, HB, TR, TG, TY, TB}
