In the book, Hidden Figures, Dorothy was the first black mathematician at NASA and Langley. In the book, it states that because of Dorothy and her math knowledge helps to make a difference during the war. The book states that she helped to enable the United States to carry the heavy bomb loads, that went onto the B-52's, which dropped over Japan in the war.
