Continental Divide:

A continental divide is the boundary or ridge which naturally occurred by separating the river system of the continents. It divides the drainage basins or watersheds. This barrier prevents the flow of rivers from one side into oceans and seas on other side. It is caused by rotation of Earth that shifts towards and apart from each other continent.

One basin falls from one side of divide and other basin falls from other side of divide. Each and every continent have atleast one continental divide. Great Divide is the largest divides running through North and South America. The “Loveland Pass in Colorado” separates the water which flows into Atlantic and Pacific Ocean basins.
