Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

It’s most commonly 6-8 am or 4-6 pm !

because people are in a rush to get to where they need to be, Rush hour is generally around 3:30 PM and that is when people are coming home from school and work and such. People need to rush to get home, but there is an abundance of people with the same objective in mind, causing traffic to slow.
