Romanticism is a philosophy emphasizing emotional self-awareness to improve society. This means that they highly value feeling, imagination, and nature (in contrast to opposing theories of empiricism and rationalisms, which chiefly value reason, science, and civilization). However, none of these are associated with industrial growth, which is largely a rationalistic goal.
