x=2

Explanation:

y = x^2 -4x-8

This is in the form y = ax^2 + bx +c

The axis of symmetry, h is found by h=-b/2a

We know a = 1, b=-4

h = -(-4)/ (2*1)

=4/2

=2

The axis of symmetry is x=2
