How does the first amendment protect freedom of expression​

The first amendment allows people to have freedom of speech, religion, press, to peacefully assemble, and the right to petition the government for complaints without punishment. However, it does not protect speech for force, fraud or slander. the right to peaceably assemble, or the right to petition the government for redress of grievances.
