When he talks about Germany or Fascism, on the other hand, he is trying to produce fear and hatred. These two pathos appeals work together by creating a division between the states of Russia and Germany. The division is also between Russia and everyone else. This us and them mentality nurtures a strong bond between the Russian people and distrust towards “others.”
