Car A travels 378 miles with 9 gallons of petrol.

378 ÷ 9 = 42 miles per gallon.

Car B travels 418 miles with 11 gallons of petrol.

418 ÷ 11 = 38 miles per gallon.

42 > 38, so car A has better mileage.
