What I took from this is that you are looking to find the area of the base of the pan, which is circular. To find the area of a circle, use:

a = \pi {r}^(2)

We know the diameter of the circular base of the pan is 7 inches, and we know the radius is equal to half of the diameter so r = 3.5 inches

Now that we know r, all we have to do is plug it into the formula:

a = \pi( {3.5})^(2)

Answer: Choice A
