Ghurids or Ghorids were a dynasty of Iranian descent from the Ghor region in present-day Central Afghanistan (Although their actual ethnic origin is not completely clear). After the the Sultan of Ghaznavid Mahmud of Ghazni's conquest of Ghor in 1011, the dynasty was converted to the Sunni Islam.

At the end of their dynasty, a confused conflict occurred among the remaining Ghūrid. This was one of the things that allowed the Khwarezmids to assume control over the Ghūrids' realm in around 1215. When Mu'izz al-Din Muhammad died, the significance of Ghazni and Ghor dispersed, and they were supplanted by Delhi.
