Explanation:

This one requires 2 sets of brackets. You are best to work in grams.

1 dg = 10 grams

1 cg = 0.01 grams.

I wouldn't fret about this if I were you. This is the first time I've actually used these units. Most likely if you really need them, you can just look them up.

4 dg * [10 grams / 1 dg] * [ 1 cg / 0.01 grams]

40 grams * 1 cg / 0.01 grams

= 4000 cgs.

Notice the first set of brackets get's rid of the dgs

the second set of brackets gets rid of the grams.
