Minimum viable population is the term that biologists use to describe the number of individuals a species requires to reproduce successfully and prevent it from going extinct. Minimum viable population is the minimum number of discrete organism required to reproduce between these organisms in the species and maintain that species from going extinct.
If the minimum viable population is maintained, then the species is capable of reproducing but has to compete with other organism when the limiting factor plays its role.
