B) Change “mortifying” to “mortified”

Explanation; “The mortified was writer” sounds way better than, “The mortifying writer” not only that but, it makes much more sense.

Mortifying; causing great embarrassment or shame.

Mortified; To feel embarrassed or shame probably.

So, it’s more likely this choice.
