A centriole is a cylindrical organelle composed mainly of a protein called tubulin found in most eukaryotic cells. The main function of the centriole is to help with cell division in animal cells. The centrioles also help in the formation of the spindle fibers that separate the chromosomes during cell division. They are made of nine triplets of microtubules arranged in a cylinder.
