To take hold of power, Ptolemy I Sotter had to sustain a war against Perdicles, the regent appointed by Alexander the Great, who was trying to keep the Hellenistic empire together. Newspapers died in the attempt to conquer Egypt, and Ptolemy strengthened his dominion by means of the Triparadiso Pact (321) with the other diádocos.
