C) Articles of Confederation

Not the second Articles of confederation that led to the Civil War, the first! Before America had a Republic, which came into effect March 4th, 1789, there was a confederation between the sates, that came into effect March 1st, 1781.

Answer:

Bill of Rights

Step-by-step explanation:

Even though the Constitution was created with extensive checks and balances to make sure that it did not overstep its bounds, many people were worried that it was still too powerful and wanted a set of laws that protected individual people's rights from encroachment by the government. The Bill of Rights was created to protect the rights of individual citizens of the United States.

I just answered it correctly
