The answer is 16 pi - 16. The area of each triangle is 8, so both triangles are 16. The area of the circle is pi times the radius squared, 16 pi.

Answer:

The area of the white region = 16π - 16 ⇒ third answer

Explanation:

* Look at the figure and lets explain it

- A circle with two diameters perpendicular to each other

- Two shaded isosceles right angled triangle with leg length 4 units

* To find the area of the white region:

- Find the area of the circle ⇒ (1)

- Find the area of the two shaded triangles ⇒ (2)

- Subtract (2) from (1)

* Lets do that

∵ The length of the radius of the circle = 4 units

∴ The area of the circle = π (4)² = 16π

∵ The area of each triangle = (1/2) × base × height

∵ The length of the base and the length of the height = 4 units

∴ The area of the two triangles = 2 × 1/2 × 4 × 4 = 16 units

* Lets subtract the area of the triangles from the area of the circle

∴ The area of the white region = 16π - 16
