a) The image is a reduction because it is simply smaller than the original.

b) We can find the scale factor by finding the ratio of the side length of the new triangle compared to the original one.

MS = 6 - (-3) = 6 + 3 = 9 units

M'S' = 4 - (-2) = 4 + 2 = 6 units

(Easiest to calculate because they are horizontal lines)

6 : 9 = 2 : 3 = 2/3 = 2 to 3
