Maghreb and Andalusia were the last to be conquered, affected, and converted to Islam. Maghreb is located in northwestern part of Africa, while Andalusia is on the Iberian Peninsula. They were areas that were conquered in the final phase of the conquests of the Islamic Caliphates. Maghreb was much more influenced and the large majority of the people were converted to Islam, while the people in Andalusia did not gave up on their religion and largely resisted to not convert. Relatively small percentage of people in Andalusia converted, which never really gave the Caliphate a very strong position in this region, so it is no wonder that the Muslim rulers were pushed away later on in the history.
