On chapters 10-11, in the book To Kill a Mockingbird, What did Jem do when Mrs. Dubose said Atticus "lawed for n******?"

He turned scarlet with rage but said nothing to Mrs. Dubose. On their way back from town, however, when they are passing Mrs. Dubose's house, Jem snaps. He began to tear up her prized camellia bushes with Scout's newly-bought twirling baton. He cut the heads of her flowers, and even kicked Scout roughly in anger (although he did regret being mean to his sister.)
