Germany was willing to turn to extremist political parties after world war I because of the failure of their current government. The democratic german government failed to adequately meet the needs of the people, and combat the effects of the Great Depression, and as Germany did not have a strong democratic government background, they quickly followed the man who promised (and went through with) economic reform, as well as the return of Germany as a military might. That man, as history knows it, is Adolf Hitler.
