In your sample you have 26 out of 30. I like to get that number into a percentage, so you do 26 divided by 30

26/30 = .8666

Then you take your total amount of fans, 45,000 and multiply it by your percentage wearing team colors.

45,000 x .8666 = 38,999.97

Since you can't have .97 of a person, your round it down to 38,999.
