Use Pythagorean Theorem to solve for AC:

AB² + BC² = AC²

12² + 9² = AC²

144 + 81 = AC²

225 = AC²

√225 = √AC²

15 = AC

To solve for BD, set up a proportion using the the small side and hypotenuse of ΔABC and ΔADB.


(s)/(h):(9)/(15)=(BD)/(12)


(9(12))/(15)=BD

7.2 = BD
