The maximum height occurs at the vertex found using t = -b/2a

Solve for t

t = -20 / 2(-5) = -20/-10 = 2 seconds.

Now replace t with 2 in the original equation to solve for the height:

h(t) = -5t^2 + 20t + 110

h(2) = -5(2)^2 + 20(2) +110

h(2) = -5(4) + 40 + 110

h(2) = -20 + 40 + 110

h(2) = 130

Travis only threw the spike 130 meters. Since Laura is at 135 meters, the spike did not reach her.
