According to Madison, why are members of the judicial branch free from the influence of those who appointed them to office?

Federal Judges are given lifetime appointments which, it is hoped, makes them immune from shifting political winds.

So, they just need to be political enough to get appointed (potentially problematic) and then they can do what they want.
