The Civil War was considered to be the first modern war. During the Civil War years, there was a quick improvement in technology and Samuel Morse was known for the most significant invention of that time: the telegraph. Both the advances in photography and the creation of the telegraph helped to turn the civil war into a modern war: while photographers were able to cover the war events and show the people home the reality, telegraphs were used for military purposes in order to report and receive communication.
