If your list of numbers includes fractions and/or irrational numbers (such as π), rewrite all of them as decimal fractions:

Decimal fractions are easier to arrange in ascending order.

Ex: 3.2, π, 4

becomes 3.2, 3.14159, 4

and we see that 3.14159 is the smallest number, 3.2 is the middle number and 4 is the greatest.

Working with rational numbers? As above, rewriting any fractions as decimal fractions will greatly ease the task of arranging your numbers in ascending order.

e. g., 25/2, 12, 15, 2

should be rewritten s 12.5, 12, 15, 2,

which, arranged in ascending order, comes out to 2, 12, 12.5, 15.
