Brazil has been one of the countries in the world that has had one of the highest economic growths in the past few decades. It was a country that was expected to continue to grow economically, and to become one of the powerhouses in the world. Unfortunately for Brazil, their economy started going in the opposite direction recently. There is not a single factor that can explain this, but there are few, that combined may give a good indication of it. The investments as a share of the GDP have been relatively low, the commodity-price super cycle, counter cyclical fiscal and monetary policies to boost the growth, and the large scale multi-billion corruption in the country.
