Are different theoretical models needed to explain the onset of deviant behavior, the persistence, and desistence of that behavior? which theoretical model(s) do you believe best account for the onset, the persistence, and desistance of deviant behavior?

Yes, I believe so.

Deviant behavior is influenced by several factors at once. In order to fully measure what caused those behavior, we have to use different theoretical models in order to consider as many factors as possible.

In my opinion, the best one for analyzing a deviant behavior is Models of operations research – Decision making. This framework factor various aspects in subjects life that eventually lead to the final decisions made by the subjects. Since deviant behavior is eventually rooted in abnormal decision making, this model would be perfect.
