The "Fugitive Slave Act" of 1973 and 1850 were laws regarding fugitive slave's matters, it stated regulations for capture of slaves, compensation of owners and punishments for helpers of runway slaves.

In response to the "Fugitive Slave Act" many Northern states passed "personal liberty law", this laws gave more rights and protection for people that were suffering with slavery problems.
