What relationship between "imperialism" and the Spanish American war?

As we already know, American imperialism refers to an authoritarian behavior that the USA exhibits in imposing its influence on the economy, geography, politics and military strength of other countries. Because of imperialism, the USA decided to impose its power and influence in the territories relevant to Spain. This is because Spain had already lost most of its colonies and is showing itself with weakened imperialism. In this case, with the pretext of freeing Cuba from Spanish repression, the USA started the Spanish-American war.
