Fossil fuels contain high percentages of carbon and include petroleum, coal, and natural gas. the Fossil fuels range from the volatile materials with low carbon to hydrogen ratios like methane then , to liquids like petroleum, after that to the nonvolatile materials composed of almost pure carbon around , like anthracite coal.
