Over the past few decades,earth scientist have developed the theory of plate tectonics.Why is this theory useful?

we know where earthquakes occur the most so we know where to not settle. This also helps explain the creation of the earth.

Using this theory, geologists have explained a lot of questions about the Earth; we have unterstood, for example why continents have forms that seem to be part of a big puzzle, and the reconstructed the Earth's history based on plates movements, their actual movements velocities and directions.

Also we understand now origin of volcanoes, origin of seisms and how did mountains form and why do we find marine fossils on the top of the Everest. This allow us to study that kind of geological hazards and like this we can prepare a little to avoid natural disasters.
