A generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy, while a motor does the opposite - it converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Both devices work because of electromagnetic induction, which is when a voltage is induced by a changing magnetic field.Nov 6, 2014

Answer:

Mechanical energy

Step-by-step explanation:

In an electric motor, a coil is placed between two poles of the magnet in a way such that when an electric current (AC current) is passed through the coil , it experiences a mechanical force on it due to the magnets and hence the coil starts rotating. The application of AC current (electrical energy) causes the coil to rotate there by producing mechanical energy

Hence , it is said that An electric motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy
