The Age of Exploration, also known as the Age of Discovery, was made possible by Portuguese and Spanish explorers finding trade routes to Africa, India, and the Americas; the inventioms of the compass and astrolabe; the invention of smaller and faster ships (especiallh the caravel); as well as the first circumnavigation experience.
