Liz is not wealthy, but does her best to present herself nicely.

This is the best answer to the question. In the passage it says that her clothes were "well-fitting and not without style" (Paragraph 24) . This shows that she tries to dress as best as she can since her clothes fit her correctly and they have style rather than being old-fashioned. However, the paragraph also show that “her shoes were run down over twisted high heels, and were strangers to polish” (Paragraph 24). This shows that she does not have a lot of money to afford new things and she does the best she can with what she has.
