Well Puzzled Penguin your sister is right! if your friend gave you 1/2 of his sandwich and your sister the other half he wouldn't have any left because one half plus one half is 1 whole not 2 fourths. so if you and your sister split the sandwich your friend would be giving away the entire sandwich and would not have any for himself!
