PLEASE HELP, URGENT!! Why is English so widely spoken in Africa

During the early 1800s many European countries began to colonize parts of Africa. Mostly in search of diamonds and gold. The English speaking country of Great Britain at the time held many parts of Africa. Slowly English became a second language to native Africans and as they did keep their original languages. English was a fast growing language and it was only natural for them to follow. Hope this helps

Because it is widely known in Africa and many people have learned it due to Americans building schools there.
