Answer: On land we live under 1 atm (atmosphere) or pressure and sea level. This means that we have about 14.6 psi of weight from air above us. Marine organisms live under the weight of water and the atmosphere so the pressure is greater. Every 10m causes pressure to increase 1 atm. As pressure increases, gases compress/shrink. This creates problems for organisms that have air bladders, floats and lungs. This also limits the ocean depth range for many organisms, including humans.
