10. serial killers kill more than 3 people over a long period of time. it could be weeks even months. however mass murderers kill over 3 people in a short span of time of days or weeks.

11. serial killers don't have just one motivation. it could be a sexual motivation, revenge, hate. it could even spiral down into psychological issue.

spree killer murders 2 or more people more than one location.

serial killer 3 or more victims but each victim is killed on separate occasions.
